A QR code is just a grid that encodes text — there is no database lookup and no account behind it, so the code you generate here never expires and never depends on this site staying online. That also means it cannot track scans or be revoked later, unlike QR codes some generators produce by redirecting through a shortened link.
The WiFi mode builds the specific payload format phone cameras recognise as a network-join prompt, so scanning it offers to connect rather than opening a browser. The contact card mode does the same with the vCard format most phones use for "Add Contact." Both are just structured text under the hood, generated locally and handed to the same QR encoder as the plain text mode.
Error tolerance controls how much of the code can be damaged, obscured, or covered with a logo and still scan correctly — higher tolerance adds redundancy at the cost of a denser pattern. Medium is a reasonable default for a code that will be printed or displayed on a screen without any overlay.

Does this QR code expire?
No. It encodes your text directly rather than pointing at a redirect this site controls, so it works forever and does not depend on this site staying online.
Can I put my WiFi password in a QR code safely?
The code is generated and rendered entirely in your browser and is never uploaded, so the password only exists on your own device and in the image you save.
What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is a fixed-resolution image, good for sharing or printing at the size shown. SVG is vector-based and can be scaled to any size — a poster or a sign — without getting blurry.
Why did my QR code fail to generate?
QR codes have a maximum data capacity that gets smaller as error tolerance goes up. If your text is very long, try a lower error tolerance or shorten it.
